Granddaughter's Graduation
The story itself, Granddaughter's Graduation, is still being finished and is not on the website yet. The workbook is here so the lesson is not lost.
Nugget of Wisdom
Feeling someone else’s pride multiplies your own joy.
SOP
Open in prayer—for the group, each other, and all readers.
2–3 volunteers share their story with the group. Listen closely for personality and emotion, not just the story.
Break into pairs and spread out (corners, hallway, or outside if possible). Keep voices low so each pair can hear clearly.
Mission
Face each other. Think of a time you felt deep pride in someone else—maybe even each other. Tell that story. Help them understand what you felt. If you can, sit facing each other, hold hands, close your eyes, and let the emotions settle in.
- What did you feel in that moment of pride?
- What did that person do that made you feel that way?
- How did their success affect you personally?
- What does that moment reveal about your personality?
- How can you express that same pride to someone today?
Homework:
This week, reach out to the person you spoke about—one or both of you. Reaffirm them and express your pride and appreciation. Before you do, take time to think about love languages. If you have not read about them, consider doing so, or simply begin asking others what theirs might be. Pay attention to how people best receive care—words of affirmation, physical touch, acts of service, quality time, or gifts. Let this guide how you approach them so your message is truly received.
Each week, use this homework as an opportunity to create a simple, intentional date. It doesn’t have to be elaborate—breakfast, lunch, dinner, a walk, or a short outing. The purpose is to go through life together with intention, learning to put the other person’s needs before your own. As you do, look for opportunities to encourage others, study personalities, and act on what you see. Plan it together, hold hands, stay present, and grow closer as you carry out the mission. When you focus on each other and others in this way, the needs of the unit will naturally be met.
Closing Prayer (optional guide)
I try to offer one simple line for those who may struggle with prayer—just as a starting point. Use your own words as you pray, and I strongly encourage you to pray together each night.
Father, thank You for the privilege of sharing in the pride of others. Help me to recognize and celebrate the victories in my partner and those around me, and to express that love in ways they can truly receive.
